Moliets-et-Maa: An Unforgettable Holiday in South West France

The following is an article “Moliets-et-Maa: An Unforgettable Holiday in South West France” by Marc Pulisci.

For those who have not left their comfort zone for some time now, perhaps an unforgettable holiday is the answer to get you up and running. Going on holiday with several sights to behold could encourage you to live outdoors, even for just a moment. And should you choose to go on one, one of the best holidays to get your blood pumping for some great open-air activities lies in a little known destination west of France called Moliets-et-Maa.

Holiday in South West France

Make sure you’re ready to try new and exciting things as you go to this small village that sits in the middle of a forest. Book yourself in a private villa and take in the fresh aroma of pines and the nearby lake.

To reach Moliets-et-Maa, travel north of Biarritz. If you are coming from Bordeaux, make your way to the village southward for two hours. Once you’re there, prepare for the adrenalin to kick in as you explore one of the best-kept outdoor adventure hotspots in France.

Get some exercise

The first thing you should arrange for when you arrive in Moliets-et-Maa is to rent bicycles. Most residents make their way around this way and it doesn’t hurt to get some good old exercise while taking in the spectacular views. The village features a network of cycling paths throughout the region. You can make your way from Leon to Bayonne via bike, or take a 2-kilometer walk to the beaches of Plage de Moliets where bars and some shops are set up, or the bare Plage des Chenes Lièges for some breathtaking natural views.

Ride the waves

If you choose to get a tan on the beaches of Plage des Chenes Lièges, you might as well rent a surfboard and ride the waves. Don’t be overwhelmed because the basics aren’t too difficult to learn and there are beginner’s lessons available as well. The tides at the beach swell regularly so there are plenty of chances to ride a wave. If you are already an advanced surfer, then head on over to Hossegor via a 30-minute drive from Moliets-et-Maa. This beach is considered one of the premier surfing destinations in the world for its large waves.

Ride a horse

Remember that funny Old Spice commercial where a man is riding horseback on the beach? That pretty much sums up the serenity you can experience at Prade Messanges Equestrian Centre. Here, you can take a 2-hour stroll at the beachfront and through forest trails where tall trees tower over you and filter the sunshine. The forest trail will lead you down to a secluded beach where you can enjoy more scenic views of the ocean as the sounds of waves crash onto the beach. It’s a very relaxing and spiritual experience for anyone who wants to take their mind away from daily woes. Getting there is no hassle via a 5-minute drive from the villa.

Take a swim

Moliets-et-Maa gives you numerous ways to get a great workout as you enjoy its many sights. But if you want to workout in peace, try swimming inside the villa and feel energized before you head out later. Most villas in the small village have clear blue swimming pools where you can take in the sunshine in private. Villas are also equipped with standard amenities so you can take a break from the outdoors in comfort.

Extreme adventure

If you’re ready to take your adventure holiday up a notch, visit Adrenaline Parc where you can try extreme adventure alternatives such as paintball, catapult, and quad mini motorcycle. It is one of the largest parks in France offering 24 courses, 250 games, and many other activities for everyone to try out. If you are after more strenuous exercises, head on over to Golf de Moliets for a round of the sport in their 18-hole and 9-hole courses, or play tennis in any of the nine green-set or two outdoor courts where you can choose either clay or grass surfaces.
